Everlasting is both sublime and beautiful. It stops you in your tracks. Asking to be embraced. Inviting you to take a breath, and to let the colours wash over you.
To experience MCHX’s work is a meditation.
Born in Kazakhstan and now residing in Georgia, MCHX is an experimental digital artist who uses light as a sculptural medium. It’s art that you need to experience - to sit with, and feel.
MCHX’s work is both sublime and powerful. Inspired by the works and ideas of 20th century abstract artists, especially the colour-field movement, he uses colour as a channel of emotional connection and self-exploration.
“Piet Mondrian, Yves Klein, Mark Rothko, Rupprecht Geiger. They all inspired me to work with colour more consciously, but I was particularly influenced by the works of Josef Albers and especially his book ‘Interaction of Color, ” says MCHX.
“I love the sensations evoked by bright, intense colour hues,” says MCHX. “I love watching how they change over time, that peculiar electrical effect when certain shades of colour mix on the screen. And I love achieving the radiance of a specific colour within a composition. I always want colour to captivate me, to sweep away my thoughts and alter my state. Yet, my work must also have a serene side; there must be a balance.”
For MCHX generative art is a realm of limitless potential. “Among all forms of creative expression, generative art brings me the greatest joy and fulfilment. I feel that I can authentically express myself and my ideas through code. The idea of being able to create something existent, an experience, out of basically nothing, just symbols in a code editor, really inspires me.”
“I am motivated mostly by my own ideas. The coding process itself surprises me every time.”
Though Mchx’s work could be likened to other light artists like James Turrel , it is uniquely his own. Utterly modern and minimalist, his experiments with colours and form, express a yearning for transcendence and the infinite. And when you see his work on your timeline, you know it's MCHX.
'I believe that every time we interact with the blockchain, we are exchanging energy with it,’ says MCHX.
