To experience MCHX’s work is a meditation. A slow sacred mathematical dance of light and colour refracting and splintering into arrays of evolving mood changing tones.

“I love the sensations evoked by bright, intense colour hues,” says MCHX. “I love watching how they change over time, that peculiar electrical effect when certain shades of colour mix on the screen. And I love achieving the radiance of a specific colour within a composition. I always want colour to captivate me, to sweep away my thoughts and alter my state. Yet, my work must also have a serene side; there must be a balance.”

At the heart of Everlasting is a cosine wave, a bond to our very existence, a heartbeat, like the shifting seasons, or the whisper of the tides and the perpetual dance of day and night. Patterns and cycles that extend beyond human comprehension. The perfection of infinity woven into the fabric of existence.

“Animation allows me to orchestrate transitions between states of excitement and tranquillity repeatedly. I spend a lot of time with my pieces. I meditate on them.”

The artwork is crafted using Vanilla JS & GLSL, without reliance on additional libraries or APIs.
The composition on the screen emerges from a blend of diverse trigonometric functions. The colour of the central object is governed by a cosine gradient function, characterised by a wave motion of four parameters, whose amalgamation yields the final colour. Multiple colour modes have been devised to capture different tones and convey the mood of the piece. The initial position of the variable responsible for the object's colour and the animation's onset is established using a randomised algorithm. Colour animation is facilitated through a trigonometric function.

The appearance and positioning of the central object within the composition are determined by trigonometric functions, taking into account its height and the number of screen divisions. This interplay engenders a refraction of colour and light on the screen, resulting in an array of shapes and colour amalgamations.
The composition's background is crafted through a fusion of colours drawn from pre-designed palettes and/or derived from a cosine gradient function. This approach aids in instilling a distinctive mood into the artwork.
