RECALL is a dynamic cryptoart series inscribed as 77 ordinals on Bitcoin. The artworks react to live mempool data, altering composition in response. They change constantly and evolve over long periods of block time.
Working deliberately with the dopamine-triggering colours and movement of video games and market interfaces, James Bloom creates modified digital images that examine themes around the fetishisation of digital technology and the influence of network systems on perception. His dynamic crypto art series ‘BURNER’ explores the idea of constant impermanence and the disappearance of the current moment due to the flow of new information in media and financial networks. His ‘RECALL’ series engages critically with the fast-moving NFT market, by forcing viewers to watch the artworks for long periods of time to be able to see their full development. He has had an abstract practice for over a decade, exhibiting at Galerie Kornfeld, Expanded Art, Art Basel and Sotheby’s New York. His film works have been shown at Berlin, Edinburgh and Jakarta film festivals among others. He is also a Creative Director, creating films and interactive experiences for leading brands, awarded at D&AD, One Show and Cannes Lions.
