About Music for Blockchains
Music for Blockchains is a constantly evolving generative audio artwork that reacts to and grows with the Bitcoin blockchain. A perpetual ambient music and generative art machine - turning the latest Bitcoin hash and price into art and audio.
The artwork is a constantly evolving living artwork and soundscape, inspired by Brian Eno’s Music for Airports.
Music for Blockchains also emotionally reacts to the Bitcoin price. When the price is up, the artwork is brighter, the music happier. When the price is down, the artwork reflects this as sadness.
The collection of 64 inscriptions represents the 64 characters of the bitcoin hash. Each artwork is seeded with the ordinal’s hash, and then mixed in with the DNA of BTC blocks that are mined after it. As each new bitcoin block is mined, it infuses itself into the artwork’s DNA. There is no final or fixed form for the artwork - as the chain evolves, so does the work.
Music for Blockchains is a hand-coded, and 100% on-chain. The artwork is designed with no external browser libraries (e.g. p5js, Tonejs).
